NLO: Franceex United Pip Broad City1-0 in Maracana
Nathaniel Paul netted the decisive goal as Franceex United surprised Broad City with a 1-0 victory at Maracana Stadium in Lagos on Monday.
Franceex United began the match energetically, with both teams taking a cautious approach that led to a goalless first half despite several scoring chances created by each side, thanks to resolute defending.
The second half commenced with a similar pace to the first, but Franceex United displayed greater creativity and offensive intent.
Both teams engaged in attacking play, yet Franceex United's composure in the attacking third ultimately shifted the momentum in their favor after a fiery start. The second half, which was more intense than the first, saw the quest for a goal intensify.
Just as it appeared the match would end in a stalemate, as Nathaniel Paul's strike in the 90th minute broke the deadlock. With this victory, Franceex United remains unbeaten, accumulating six points from their initial two matches, thereby establishing a strong position early in the league.
Following the win, Club Coach Abdulkadiri Abiodun Abdulwasiu praised his players, stating, 'Broad City FC is a formidable team, and for us to secure a victory against them, I instructed my players to elevate their performance beyond 100%, which they executed flawlessly.
